Goodbye ...

It is a hard decision to be made. But I've already made up my mind on it.

I've finally decided to stop blogging, due to some personal reasons, and this entry should be my last entry.

Thank you for patronizing!

Boring team building ...

Tuesday, November 28, 2006
We had a team building @ Cornerstone yesterday. But it was a super boring one because firstly - there isn't full participation from the entire team, and secondly - we had an outsider who joined us.

Colleague PS wasn't around because he needs to accompany his wife who will be delivering at any point of time. Colleague KW wasn't around because she is down with some sickness. The team building become even more boring because my boss brought his gf along to join us. For the entire night, we had to watch our mouth and conversation, because we do not want to risk getting our lovely boss into trouble. Imagine having to control ourselves even after office working hours. This sux!

Our boring team building.

We will be having an end-user security seminar this coming Friday, and we're planning to have another round of team building session after the event. I am praying hard now for the coming team building on Friday to be a joyous and fun one.

Nuisance ...

Monday, November 27, 2006
I think there are lots of humans out there in Friendster who is way too free. Sometimes, I can't help but to wonder, can't they find something more meaningful to do during their spare time? I seemed to be crappy messages like the one below all the time ... Ergh !!

Mini reunion ...

Didn't do much during the weekend. Friend HJ and Friend L from KL were in town, so, we met up for some short and sweet catching up session.

We started our Friday night with some red wine at Cornerstone, followed by a short clubbing session at the new St. James Club. After St. James, our driver for the day - Friend JT brought us around Geylang to check out on the quality of prostitutes in Spore before we end our night with a yummylicious supper - Frog Porridge, Friend Oyster and also Beef Horfun.

We wanted to check out the well-known Yangtze Cinema which is famous for the screening of RA movies with very cheesy names. I've heard of funny stories about uncles wanking in the cinema, uncles bringing umbrellas to the cinemas to shield themselves, uncles climaxed and moan, etc. So, when I told both Friend L and also Friend HJ about it, all of us got excited - not for the movie, but for the actual scene in such cinemas. So, we're all on for it, but unfortunately, they do not operate on 24 hours basis. =(

Here are some of the pictures taken on Friday night ...

Friend L, Friend HJ and myself chilling out at Cornerstone. We had a bottle of sparking apple juice and also a bottle of red wine.

Friendship of 13 years old! I got to know Friend HJ since 12 years old, and it's such a miracle that we still keep in touch till now. =)

Us clubbing at St. James Power Station!

Our driver for the night - Friend JT and I.

Something sweet ...

Friday, November 24, 2006
Colleague CY is currently on a one-week-study leave. But we still keep each other updated on what's happening via msn and also sms. I did update Colleague CY a little about me falling sick. Colleague EW started making a big hoo haa about me falling sick and my ugly voice, so, somehow Colleague CY concluded that my sore throat is indeed a very bad one.

The moment I logged onto MSN when I stepped into office today, Colleague CY sent me a MSN message, saying that there's a surprise inside the fridge waiting for me. Only god knows when did Colleague CY stepped into the office to keep the surprise inside the fridge because no one in the office seems to know about it.

Tadaa ... my surprise from Colleague CY. A jar of Manuka Honey. The ugly wrapping skill pretty much explained that it is handwrapped by Colleague CY. Don't underestimate this jar of honey ok. I got a shock of my life when I found out that this jar of Manuka Honey costs SGD 60. Freakin expensive!! Colleague EW is super jealous now because he is sick, and he doesn't get any jar of honey from anyone. LOL ...

Lunch was at Sakae Sushi with Friend KC. As usual, I didn't really enjoy my meal because friends who know me knows that I do not really know how to appreciate Japanese food. But we took some lovely shots. =)

Friend KC and myself. All the waitresses at Sakae Sushi are too busy to help us to take a picture, so, we got no choice but to self-service to get it done. End result, so far so good ...

I'm off to bed now. Can't wait to meet up with a good old friend, HJ from KL tomorrow. I'll upload more pictures again soon ...

Feeling sick ...

Wednesday, November 22, 2006
Not much of updates for the past few days. I was feeling sick since last Saturday (after the party), and I am still feeling sick now. =(

Initially I was only down with some loss of my voice and sore throat. Then I started having some very minor flu. And now, I felt a little chilly at home, without the air-cond. I think I am feeling a little feverish now.

The medicines that the doctor prescribed to me made me feel weak the entire day, and I lost my appetite to eat.

I hate to fall sick! Ergh...

Something meaningful ...

Sunday, November 19, 2006
Learnt something very meaningful from an old friend - JL (who has just only found her true love), and here are some meaningful stuffs to share. =)

“Infatuation, crushes and attraction come to us by chance, but true love that lasts is truly a choice. A choice that we make”.

“Fate brings you together, but it’s still up to u to make it happen. Soul mates do exist, that there is truly someone made for you. But it’s still up to you to make the choice, if you’re going to do something about it”.

“We may meet our soul mates by chance, but loving and staying with them is still a choice we have to make. We came to the world not by finding someone perfect to love, BUT to learn how to love and imperfect person perfectly.”

This is weird. Why am I feeling so sentimental out of a sudden?

Birthday celebration - Part V

Saturday, November 18, 2006
It was a crazy night. We had seafood dinner at No Signboard Restaurant in Geylang, and next, we proceeded to Double O for clubbing.

I'm still very tired, from the amount of alcohol that I drowned myself in last night. So, I shall not elaborate in detail on the happenings. Below are some pictures taken ...

Myself & Friend JT. He was supposed to be one of my heros for the night, but he was also one of the culprits who teamed up with Friend RY to attack me with some tequila shots. Hmph, I'll remember this, and take my revenge when the time comes.

My marketing colleague, PC and Myself. She purposely showed up for a short while to wish me Happy Birthday, and at the same time, to introduce me to her "Waterfish". =)

Birthday Gal making her birthday wish. Friend LS called me early in the morning, all the way from KL to remind me to make a wish to help me find a rich and generous bf. And yeah, that is my wish for this year. ;)

All the early birds who get to enjoy a slice of my lovely cake.

The birthday gal and also the birthday-boy-to-be, KC. We were running around, hiding ourselves at the corners in Double O, to try to escape from all the crazy drinking sessions. But our mission failed. No matter where we hide, they are still able to track us down.

I got injected with Vodka Ribena (appetizer for the night) the moment I stepped into the dancing floor area, thanks to Friend MT.

Friend MT and Myself. Friend MT was the organizer of the night. Overall, it was a wonderful night, with lots of foods, drinks, and most importantly - lovely homosapiens. Anyone notice the bottled drinks in the picture? Those are the killer drinks. It tastes like vodka ribena, but very very very sweet and gassy. Yucks! I hate gassy drinks.

My colleague, LT and also Myself. Colleague LT is also another culprit who tried several attempts in trying to get me drunk. I'll also record this down in my 555 notebook.

Friend RY and Myself. He was supposed to be my hero for the night, but not only did he teamed up with Friend JT to make me drink those awful drinks, he also puked on my jeans!!

Myself with my lovely sister, Friend LL. She came to join us with only one mission in mind - to make sure that she can take care of me incase I really get drunk. She also did a very good job in sneaking me out of Double O for a quick supper in between, because my stomach is already growling for food.

Friend LL, Myself, and also Friend ST. Remember earlier on, I was saying that Friend LL sneaked me out for a quick supper? The funny thing is, she sneaked me out without $$$ and handphone. I also do not have $$$ with me, but lucky thing, I have my handphone with me. Friend ST came into rescue because he is the only one having $$$ in his pocket, so, we sneaked him out of Double O as well. Friend ST and Myself, we both gobbled 2 plates of California Maki Rolls in just a matter of 10 minutes. This shows how hungry we are. =)

Friend CN and Myself. The main culprit for the night. He knows that I can't drink, yet he still ordered a Flaming Lamborghini for me. I'll remember him for this, and will definitely take revenge of him when his birthday comes. Hmph ...

Myself with Friend ST and also his friend. Can't remember his name, but I clearly remembered that he made me drink several tequila shots the moment I was being introduced to him. And not long after that, he challenged me to finish a jug of whisky dry together with him. Crazy fella.

Everyone's attempt in trying to get me drunk failed. I'm still so proud of this. But I did feel a little high and super duper tired on my way home. So tired that I fell asleep in Friend JT's car during that short journey home.

This should mark the last birthday celebration for me for this year, that is if I can escape from Friend AM for another clubbing session tonight. I think I am way too old for clubbing already. I used to love Techno and Trance music, but now, my head start to spin when I hear such music.

Yesterday night will definitely be a memorable night for me. A big THANK YOU to all of you. I'm sure you guys know who you are. =)

Weird looking flowers ...

Friday, November 17, 2006
I was feeling a little gloomy eversince this morning. The actual reason behind this is still unknown. But I suspect that it could be because I am still unable to accept the fact that I'm finally reaching my mid-20s.

My face brightened up instantly during lunch. Wanna know why? Scroll down and you'll know why.

My face brightened up instantly not because of the flowers, but because of the skills of the person who wrapped up this bouquet of flower. I'm pretty amazed by how she designed the entire flower arrangement.

Eventhough I have not gone thru proper flower arrangement lessons, but I believe that I do have some taste when it comes to differentiating between a nice-looking bouquet of flower vs a weird-looking bouquet of flower.

There are 3 stalks of white trumpet lilies hidden behind the roses and wild flowers. Why on earth are the lilies hidden behind? I don't know. In front of the lilies are 12 stalks of roses - 4 stalks of yellow ones, 4 stalks of light pink ones, and 4 stalks of dark pink ones. And there are also 3 types of wild flowers accompanying the lilies and also the roses - yellow ones, purple ones and white ones. Weird color combination huh?

First time in my entire life that I'm seeing such a "unique" bouquet of flower. But I guess I shouldn't complaint much. Rather, I should be feeling thankful because this is probably the only bouquet of flower that I've received for my birthday this year. =)

Security token ...

Just received a small little gift from Maybank as well. Its a Security Token which can generate a random 8 digit One-Time Password (OTP) at the touch of a button. This is to provide an additional layer of protection against possible abuse of online activities. =)

Birthday celebration - Part IV

Thursday, November 16, 2006
Had my 4th birthday celebration with Friend HC and Friend SP today. Both Friend HC and Friend SP were suffering from headaches for the past few days, thinking of where to take me for dinner, as they know that I can be quite picky for food. After doing some brainstorming, they still have not gotten the slightest idea. And so, today, we end up having a mini celebration in TCC @ Bugis.

Didn't order much today. Perhaps I ate too much last night until I do not have much of appetite today. I have been on excessive eating mode since Monday. Sounds scary, doesn't it?

Nothing much to blog about. I'm kinda tired of many mini birthday celebrations in a year already. Perhaps that is a sign of me aging gracefully? LOL ... I don't know ...

Here are some pictures taken tonight ...

Myself & Friend SP, trying to test out the ISO feature from my new camera. =)

My cute little birthday cake, with a unique name - Mont Blanc. Unfortunately, TCC doesn't have any candles, so, I got no candles to blow. But I did made another wish. =)

Friend SP, Friend HC and Myself - Picture taken with flash.

Friend SP, Friend HC and Myself - Picture taken using "Twilight" mode.

The cute little present that Friend HC bought for me. The moment I got the present, I stared at the wrapping gift. I teased Friend HC about the message "I wish that you could know how much I love you", and telling him that his wife might be jealous if she finds out about it. To my surprise, his wife was the one who help him choose that wrapping gift. Weird huh?

I'll be officially 25 tomorrow onwards. Sigh ... Finally reaching my mid-20s...

Birthday celebration - Part III

Had my 3rd Birthday Celebration with Friend KP @ My Secret Garden today (2nd Celebration was yesterday, but I didn't have my camera with me). There were four of us in total - Friend KP, Friend TK, Friend LL and also myself. Initially, we wanted to go for sky dining, but they do not allow last minute reservation. And so, we end up @ My Secret Garden.

We were being treated like VIPs @ My Secret Garden. First, we drama-ed over some trivial issues on the quality of the Lobster Bisque being served to us. Secondly, we ordered like we have not eaten for ages - 4 Lobster Bisques and 4 Main Courses for all of us, A Dozen of Escargots, 3 different types of mixed food platters (to be shared among us), Tiramisu Cakes, Blueberry Cheese Cakes, Fruit Sparkling Juices for all of us, and a bottle of red wine. How not to be treated like VIPs? =)

The damage? About SGD 400.

If I continue eating like this, I am definitely gonna put on alot of weight this month. Putting on weight is always easy, losing weight is one hell of a difficult task. But who cares, as long as we're all happy ...

Here are some of the pictures taken with my new T10... Enjoy viewing!

My Secret Garden - Outdoor Dining.

My Secret Garden - Indoor Dining.

My Secret Garden - Dining Area for the VIPs.

The 4 sisters.

Both the Birthday Gals.

Tomorrow will be another celebration day for me, with some good old friends. I'm looking forward to it. Will try to take more pictures and will continue and upload them over here.

I'm off to bed. Goodnite!

Birthday celebration - Part I

Tuesday, November 14, 2006
Today marks the first day of my 25th birthday celebration, advanced celebration, that is! Birthday celebration this year seems to be pretty boring, and it doesn't seem to bring any smile to my face, maybe because I am finally reaching my mid 20's.

I had 2 birthday celebrations today. The first was with Friend CL at Vino Vino at Mohd Sultan. We were supposed to have some light finger food and drinks to chill out. In the end, we ordered more than what our stomachs can take, and half of the foods have gone to waste. =( We were together for only 2 hours before I bid farewell for my 2nd session for the night.

2nd session was with Vendor DB and also my fellow colleagues at Mohd Sultan - The Connoisseur Divan. Quite a cozy place for a drinking session. The drinks were good. Service was excellent. Vendor DB complained that he sensed the operations manager of the bar having a crush on me. We were challenging each other with hard liquors and cocktails throughout the night, and it seems that, I always get the sweetest and nicest drinks which doesn't seem to make me drunk. =) This I have to admit, is quite true (at least in my honest opinion).

By the time we're done with our 2nd session, Collleague PC and Colleague EW has already collapsed. Myself, Colleague LT and also Vendor DB are still sober. Looks like we will not be able to wake up early for work tomorrow.

Since the OM for the bar has done a good job, I told him that I'll pay him a visit pretty soon, probably on the coming Friday, but again, this is not confirmed yet. Overall, the OM is quite a sweet guy. He makes sure that everyone gets high tonight, except for me (of course!). =)

Got back only at 4am. I am drop dead tired now. My body is super dehydrated from the amount of alchohol that I consumed earlier. I need some good rest tonite.

Goodnite!

Nightmare ...

Saturday, November 11, 2006
My scary nightmare woke me up from sleep quite early today. One of the scariest and most disgusting nightmares that I've ever had.

I dreamt about me dating this cute looking guy. We were a loving couple and we never fail to bring up the jealousy infront of other dating couples with our mushy talks, lovey dovey actions, etc.

Then we felt that it was time for us to bring the relationship a step further. My cute looking boyfriend confessed. He is actually a girl, but she hid it so well that no one is able to tell. Not even myself despite being his girlfriend for quite sometime.

I felt a little shocked and disgusted after he/she confessed. And then I woke up. Lucky this, this was only a dream. I can't imagine myself spending the rest of my life being a LESBIAN!!

Fruitful day ...

I didn't have my dinner tonite because I do not have any appetite. Reason for my loss of appetite is still unknown. But by 11pm, I was almost starving to death already. Lucky thing, Friend JT suggested that we go for a late night supper. So, we ended up having supper at Hong Kong Tea House @ Katong Village.

The amount of foods that we both ordered are pretty scary. The waiter even commented that the foods are way too much for only the both of us. We somehow proved him wrong. We finished about 90% of the foods that we ordered. I still didn't have the appetite, so I didn't eat much. Friend JT finished most of the foods. =)

The amount of the foods that we ordered. From top left : Tou Miao Vegetable, Friend Mee Hoon with Curry, HK Style Milk Tea, Hot and Spicy soup, Coke with Ginger and Lemon, French Toast, Chicken Wings, Fruit Salad Popiah, Curry Fish Ball, and Carrot Cake.

Another side view of the foods that we ordered.

I also adopted a new pet - an inflatable giant tortoise from Caltex @ Beach Road today. I got help from 3 lovely guys at my house to get this tortoise up. Pity those guys, they were exhausted by the time they are done with my tortoise. =)

My cute giant tortoise. It is so huge that now I have problem finding a place to accommodate the tortoise.

A desperate guy doing something funny to my poor tortoise? Hehe ...

Me riding on my giant tortoise.

Overall, today has been a fruitful day for me - I not only adopted a giant tortoise from Caltex, I also managed to con for a free meal from Friend JT.

Being a female who wears a skirt is always an advantage. =)

My dream room ...

Thursday, November 09, 2006
I have always envisioned myself having a cozy home ever since I started work. Whether or not I find a guy to share that house with me is not an issue. I just have to have my own house by the time I reach 30 years old. That's my dream.

Well, that cozy home doesn't necessarily need to be big, but most importantly, the interior design and the decorations have to make me feel cozy when I step into the house after a tired day at work.

I got too bored working from home today, so, I did some simple surfing, and I came across some very nice designs for my future-master-bedroom-to-be.

If I could only afford a small little condominium in the near future, this will be how my master bedroom should look like, due to space constraints.

This design should also fit nicely into the master bedroom of my small little condo.

If I can afford a slightly bigger terrace house, I will copy the interior design as above. But white color is a definite no no. Looks way too boring for me. Maybe peach color might look better?

This is also another lovely interior design.

I will adopt this design if I can afford either a bungalow or a corner terrace house with a huge master bedroom. But I don't fancy purple color. Perhaps lilac or pink would look nicer to me. =)

I am never a person with a creative or artistic mind. So, if I were to have my own house in the near future, there is a high chance that I might just outsource the tedious job to an interior designer. But then again, for that, there is a high price to pay. I can compromise on a small little car and lesser shopping, but if I were to be able to afford my own home, it definitely has to look cozy and classy. =)

I think I am dreaming way too much. Whether or not I could afford my own house before I reach 30 years old is still a big question mark. Time to get back to reality ...

Hainanese style wedding ...

I had a hilarious chat with Friend TJ earlier. So funny that I almost fell off my chair laughing. We were having a normal chat on the Sony camera that I fell in love with, and our topic suddenly diverted to something else.

Out of sudden, I was curious if TJ is still single, so I asked him whether if he is single or attached. He replied that he is single and asked if I want to date him. Our parents would be elated because we're both hainanese. I told him that it would not be a great idea. I'm the kind of person who wants to win in every debate session, but how am I gonna win in a debate with a lawyer? And who on earth will wanna hire a lawyer who can't even win in a simple debate with his gf? LOL...

So, here are some excerpts from our crappy session. We'll both start to date as a hainanese couple. Being typical hainanese, everytime we go for dinner / lunch, it will have to be hainanese chicken rice. But having chicken rice for every meal is gonna be damn boring. So, we have decided to have only chicken rice for our first dinner / lunch date. Communication in Hainanese is a pre-requisite.

After dating, when time matures, we'll have a Hainanese-Style-Wedding. I'll invite Friend HJ to be my bride's maid as she is also a hainanese. No reason to count Friend HJ out as my bride's maid because she was the one who introduced Friend TJ to me. We'll only invite hainanese guests for our wedding dinner. All those who attended the wedding dinner will have to converse in Hainanese. Emcees will also have to speak in Hainanese. If we could, we will have a stage performance with a singer singing us a Hainanese song.

Next will be the dishes for our wedding night. First dish will be the Hainanese White Chicken. Subsequent dishes could be Hainanese Chicken Chop, Hainanese Mixed Vegetables, Hainanese Kicap Sotong, etc. But we ran out of ideas for Hainanese Dishes. We will consult our parents for more ideas when time comes. And finally, honeymoon will be to Hainan Island in China. Hehe...

Boy, this definitely brightens up my boring day! But NO, I don't think a Hainanese-Style-Wedding will be a good idea. I do not want to be traumatized on my big day! Hehe ...

Uninteresting day ...

Wednesday, November 08, 2006
Today has been a super uninteresting day for me. Slept only at about 3.30am yesterday because I was on the phone for hours with some friends. And I got up as early at 7.00am in the morning today for breakfast with my lovely colleagues - EW and CY.

The egg prata for breakfast was probably the only decent meal that I have eaten for today. After my breakfast, I rushed back to the office for some meetings with some partners - and then it was one whole stretch of meetings (3 meetings in total), one after another, non-stop. All the meetings ended only at about 3.00pm. No lunch breaks, and then I am off to Acer to send my lousy notebook in for a motherboard replacement. They need 3 - 4 days to get me a motherboard replacement, which means that I'll be handicapped for the next few days until Monday. ACER sux big time!!

After ACER, another 2 more meetings. By the time I am done, it is already 6.30pm in the evening. Sounds pathetic rite? I am drop dead tired, tired till I lost my appetite to eat. So, I guess I'll head over to my bed now for a short nap.

I hate it when my boss is not in town. I hate all the auto-forwarded emails. I hate the auto-forwarded calls. I hate to attend to calls from vendors giving me unnecessary pressure when they are unable to contact my boss. I hate to be busy to the extend that I have got no time to even fill my empty stomach!! I hate everything at work today!!!

I better go catch some sleep now. Bye...

T10 vs T50 ??

Tuesday, November 07, 2006
I have finally gotten my hands on both the latest Sony Cybershot cameras - the T10 and also the T50 @ Funan the IT Mall today.

T10 is priced at an affordable price of SGD 599, whereas T50 is priced at a slightly higher price of SGD 799. Technology and Functionality wise, both T10 and T50 are about the same. For the price difference of SGD 200, T50 comes with a 3" touch screen interface, a significantly better battery life, a better flash range and also slightly higher contrast + color saturation.

The only thing that I dislike about the T50 is that, its size is very much thicker and fatter than T10. Also, eventhough the touch screen may sound impressive, but while playing with one unit of T50 today, I personally find it tedious and T50 seemed to require a lot of user interaction. It takes too many touches and clicks to get what I want. And for a perfectionist like me, I can imagine myself going nuts trying to clean the fingerprints on the screen. =)

So far, I have got no other complaints for T10 (The additional features in T50 would cost an additional of SGD 200), except that I would prefer the LCD size of 3" rather than only 2.5". The size of T10 is perfect, and it would fit nicely in my handbag. The combination of the outlook for T10 plus the huge screen of T50 would make it a great camera. Unfortunately, no such option is available in the market. =(

But but but ... The pink color model for T10 has all been sold out. Infact, I was told that the pink color T10 is no longer in production. This is soooo disheartening. =(

If only they have the pink color T10, it will make it very much easier for me to decide. Without having to think twice, I would have chosen the pink camera. But now, since the pink color model is no longer available in the market, I am still deciding, if I should go for a camera which is fat but full of features, or a camera which is super slim and handy but comes with lesser features ...

I'm now in another dilemma. T10 vs T50. Haih, I am always spoilt for choices ...

Pink Color T10

Black Color T50

I'll KIV till I get my pay cheque by end of the month. Any opinions from my fellow blogders who have played with both the models above will be deeply appreciated. So, keep your comments flowing in =)

Supermodel wannabe ...

We are planning to go for a swimming and sun-bathing session, for one of our company team-building sessions. All my female colleagues got super excited when they start to talk about their bikinis collection. Infact, they are now discussing about flaunting their assets and doing a parade around in their bikinis (supermodels wannabe).

It seems that I'm the only one who is not so keen on this idea. Wanna know why? Firstly, I do not own any bikinis. Secondly, I do not want to show to the public on the amount of fats that I have on my body. And lastly, I got no assets to flaunt. =(

Since I am not daring enough to start with bikinis, my colleagues introduced me to something else, known as the tankini. But these tankinis do not come cheap. One suit costs SGD 158.

And guess what? I managed to con Colleague EW into sponsoring me for it. It is always very advantageous to be a female, isn't it? =)

Here are some of the lovely collections that I came across ...

Snowy Bandeau Tankini

Sakura Mizu Tankini

Blue Hues Tankini

Pinky Bear Tankini

Now, I'm in a dilemma with too many options given. Which one should I go for? And most importantly, which one will make me look slimmer? =)

Panic ...

Monday, November 06, 2006
I'm starting to feel a little panicky now. I'll be flying off to Vietnam in about 27 days time, and till date, other than my flight tickets, I have not made any hotel reservation, tour reservation, etc.

Contacted 3 travel agencies from People's Park Complex this morning, and boy, I can only describe all the ticketing officers, from all the 3 different travel agencies, who attended to me using one word. STUPID. When I called, I specifically requested for Vietnam Land Tour only, because dad has already gotten the flight tickets.

When I checked my email by the end of the day, I received 3 quotations. All the quotations come with flight details. It is either that I speak alien language, or the guys who attended to me could not understand simple English. Reading those emails can make me vomit blood.

Thank god, an old primary school friend, LL, who has just only joined the tourism industry has agreed to help me source for a good Vietnam land trip package. So, that kinda help in solving my miseries. =)

Seeing that I'm so tensed today, Colleague EW brightened up my day by telling me a silly joke. Apparently, EW's younger sister is jealous of me. Erm, I think EW's sister is starting to hate me, without knowing me in person. It seems that Colleague EW has been singing praises about me to his sister all the time, and asking his sister to learn my positive points (how to be feminine, how to attract guys, etc). So, while they were having an argument, his sister said to him, "Don't talk to me. Anything, go talk to your Soo Chin". LOL.

So, that's the joke for the day. I'm off to play my online pool now. Adious!

Advanced birthday celebration ...

Saturday, November 04, 2006
A few days ago, my 75 years old grand-aunt called me at my mobile, informing me that she wants to come over to my house during the coming weekend. She insisted that I have to wait for her at home. So, I rejected all invitations for shopping, dinner, lunch, movie, etc.

I got a surprise from my grand-aunt when I saw her. She bought me a little birthday cake from Angie the Choice. My grand-aunt will be going over to KL next week, for about a month, to keep my granny company. So, she has decided to have an advanced celebration with me. =)

My favourite Durian Cake from Angie the Choice. My grand-aunt is so sweet rite? Despite her old age, her memories are still pretty good. I'm sooooo touched! *sob sob*

Since she is so sweet, I have decided to take her out for dinner tonight, before my line-dancing classes. Venue has not been decided. Probably Fish & Co at Tampines. I hate crowds, so, Orchard is a definite no-no. =)

I'm off to enjoy my durian cake now. Adious!

Foods, foods and foods ...

A few days ago, my lady boss made me some very nice orange cheese cake. Today she made some Oreos cheese cake for me.

I was on half day MC today, because of my IBS. Doctor gave me some laxatives, and it did worked on me this morning. I looked a little pale when I stepped into the office. Colleague CY saw me looking so weak, and he immediately serve me with a slice of Oreos cheese cake from the fridge. I cheered up instantly after that. =)

The lovely Oreos cheese cake made by my lady boss.

Today is also Friend RY's birthday, so, we went out for a romantic candle light dinner at Oosters. We didn't order much, because both of us didn't have much of appetite, but we definitely ordered some good quality food and also some nice German beers. Friend RY is too tired due to lack of sleep, and myself, too tired because of the side effect of the laxatives.

The lovely foods that we ordered - half a kg of white wine mussels, and also a giant plate of mixed platter with fries, sausages, croquettes, prawn fritters, etc.

Cheers!

The first picture that we both took didn't look that nice, because we forgotten to turn on the flash lights on the camera. This is a much nicer version, taken by another young, handsome looking waiter. =)

Eventhough we didn't order much, we're still unable to finish up the foods. We didn't want to waste the foods, so, we came up with this idea of playing some silly games. The loser will have to finish up the foods. In the end, we gave up, because our stomach is about to explode already. =S

The leftovers.

We went for moonlight strolling, thinking that this could help in speeding up the digestion of foods. Doesn't help either. So, we end up having hot fruit tea at The Coffee Connoiseur at Boat Quay. Friend JT came over to join us not long after.

We left about 11pm, because Friend RY need to meet up with another group of his friends for a drinking session. I guess he will not be able to escape from being thrashed with liquors tonite. =)

Overall, it was a wonderful night. Friend RY, may all your dreams and wishes come true yah!

Irritable bowel syndrome ...

Thursday, November 02, 2006
A few days ago, I had very severe constipation problem. Last night, I suddenly have this very terrible stomach cramp. I still have the stomach cramp now, but it is now not as bad as last night. Being the smart alec I always would like to be, I somehow concluded that I have a gastric flu. So, I went to my handsome doctor, telling him that I have a gastric flu.

To my surprise, after some diagnostics from my handsome doctor, he said, he suspected that I could be suffering from an Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). He then explained about IBS to me in brief.

When I reached home, the first thing I did was to do some googling on IBS, to ensure myself that IBS will not do any big harm to my health. And here's the result to my searches from

Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, is a problem that affects mainly the bowel, which is also called the large intestine. The bowel is the part of the digestive system that makes and stores stool. The word syndrome means a group of symptoms. IBS is a syndrome because it can cause several symptoms. For example, IBS causes cramping, bloating, gas, diarrhea, and constipation.

IBS is not a disease. It's a functional disorder, which means that the bowel doesn't work as it should.

With IBS, the nerves and muscles in the bowel are extra-sensitive. For example, the muscles may contract too much when you eat. These contractions can cause cramping and diarrhea during or shortly after a meal. Or the nerves can be overly sensitive to the stretching of the bowel (because of gas, for example). Cramping or pain can result.

IBS can be painful. But it does not damage the bowel or cause any other diseases.

Does stress cause IBS?

Emotional stress will not cause a person to develop IBS. But if you already have IBS, stress can trigger symptoms. In fact, the bowel can overreact to all sorts of things, including food, exercise, and hormones.

Foods that tend to cause symptoms include milk products, chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, carbonated drinks, and fatty foods. In some cases, simply eating a large meal will trigger symptoms.

Women with IBS often have more symptoms during their menstrual periods.

What are the symptoms of IBS?

The main symptoms of IBS are ...
  • crampy pain in the stomach area (abdomen)
  • painful diarrhea or constipation

Most people have either diarrhea or constipation, but some people have both. Other symptoms are ...

  • mucus in the stool
  • swollen or bloated abdomen
  • the feeling that you have not finished a bowel movement

How is IBS diagnosed?

The doctor will suspect that you have IBS because of your symptoms. But the doctor may do medical tests to make sure you don't have any other diseases that could cause the symptoms.

Medical tests for IBS ...

  • Physical exam
  • Blood tests
  • X ray of the bowel: This x-ray test is called a barium enema or lower GI (gastrointestinal) series. Barium is a thick liquid that makes the bowel show up better on the x ray. Before taking the x ray, the doctor will put barium into your bowel through the anus.
  • Endoscopy: The doctor inserts a thin tube into your bowel. The tube has a camera in it, so the doctor can look at the inside of the bowel to check for problems.

What is the treatment?

IBS has no cure, but you can do things to relieve symptoms. Treatment may involve ...

  • diet changes
  • medicine
  • stress relief

Some foods make IBS worse. Here are some foods that may cause symptoms:

  • fatty foods like french fries
  • milk products like cheese or ice cream
  • chocolate
  • alcohol
  • caffeine (found in coffee and some sodas)
  • carbonated drinks like soda

If certain foods cause symptoms, you should eat less of them or stop eating them.

To find out which foods are a problem, write down this information:

  • what you eat during the day
  • what symptoms you have
  • when symptoms occur
  • what foods always make you feel bad
  • Take your notes to the doctor to see if you should stop eating certain foods.

Some foods make IBS better. Fiber reduces IBS symptoms—especially constipation—because it makes stool soft, bulky, and easier to pass. Fiber is found in bran, bread, cereal, beans, fruit, and vegetables.

Add foods with fiber to your diet a little at a time to let your body get used to them. Too much fiber all at once might cause gas, which can trigger symptoms in a person with IBS.

Besides telling you to eat more foods with fiber, the doctor might also tell you to get more fiber by taking a fiber pill or drinking water mixed with a special high-fiber powder.

How much you eat matters, too. arge meals can cause cramping and diarrhea in people with IBS. If this happens to you, try eating four or five small meals a day. Or, have your usual three meals, but eat less at each meal.

If necessary, the doctor might give you medicine to help with symptoms:

  • laxatives: to treat constipation
  • antispasmodics: to slow contractions in the bowel, which helps with diarrhea and pain
  • antidepressants: to help those who have severe pain

You must follow your doctor's instructions when you use these medicines. Otherwise, you could become dependent on them.

Does stress trigger your symptoms? Learning to reduce stress can help. With less stress, you may find that you have less cramping and pain. Also, you may find it easier to manage your symptoms.

Meditation, exercise, and counseling are some things that might help. You may need to try different activities to see what works best for you.

Points to Remember ...

  • IBS is a functional disorder in which the bowel doesn't work as it should.
  • IBS can cause cramping, bloating, gas, diarrhea, and constipation.
